Know as the “Cajun Crossroads of Louisiana,” Avoyelles
Parish is rich in French/Acadian tradition as well as Indian culture, which are
preserved by the Marksville Prehistoric Indian Park & Museum and the
Tunica-Biloxi Indian Center & Museum. Fish and game are abundant in
Avoyelles’ 20,000 acres of lakes, bayous and rivers and three state wildlife
management areas and two national wildlife refuges.
